A live music concert “Maathruvandanam” was conducted at Kandaswamy College in Chennai by ‘All India Malayalee Association'(AIMA). The concert was organised to raise fund to support Adayar Cancer Institute. The live music concert was presented by Malayalam music director Gopi Sundar. Singers Karthik, Rimmy Tonny, Haricharan, Ranjini Jose, Vidhu Pratap, Sithara and Sachin Warrier were present in the music crew.
Padma Bhushan Dr.Shantha, Chair Person of Adayar Cancer Institute, Padma Bhushan Dr.Kamalhassan, Actor & Project Ambassador of AIMA, Yusuf Ali, Renowned Industrialist & Businessman, Gokulam Gopalan, Chariman Gokulam Group & President of AIMA and few other leading personalities were present in the event.
Rs. 25 Lakh fund that was raised by AIMA was handed over by Kamalhassan to Dr.Shantha in the presence of Gokulam Gopalan and other few dignitaries on the stage.
Though the event ended happily, the main drawback of the event was none other than the anchor of the program Ranjini Jose. Ranjini Jose presented the program in Malayalam alone and there was no proper briefing of the event either in English or Tamil. It was very difficult for the journalists to understand the exact concept of the event. Later journalists had to interact with the Malayalees in English and Tamil to get a briefing about the event.
