Corporation ignores to maintain OSR Land of VGN Minerva, apartment residents enjoy:

VGN Minerva is a residential apartment situated in Nolambur near Mogappair West. This apartment was constructed around two years back with an area measuring around 10 acres. The apartment was promoted by VGN Group a leading realtor.

CMDA has put up an order that any huge apartment or commercial establishment that is being constructed in and around Chennai has to hand over a part of the land as OSR (Open Space Reservation) to the Corporation of Chennai. Corporation of Chennai would be maintaining the OSR land as park for the use of public.

It is to be noted that the OSR land of VGN Minerva has been assigned by the promoter and the same is currently being used by the residents of VGN Minerva. For name sake a gate has been put on OSR land facing the road and the other sides of the OSR land is kept open and is being utilized by the residents of VGN Minerva. The gate of the OSR land has been permanently locked and the gate is been surrounded with bushes.

It creates a suspicion whether the OSR land has been properly handed over to the Corporation of Chennai. If the OSR land had been handed over to the Corporation of Chennai, the Corporation authorities should have taken necessary initiative to maintain the park of their own and should have put a notice board stating that the property is an OSR land and is being maintained by the Corporation of Chennai.

The OSR land of VGN Minerva is estimated to be approximately one acre of land. The current market price of a ground consisting of 2400 Sq.ft in Nolambur is estimated approximately at Rs. 1,80,00,000 (Rupees One Crore and Eighty Lakhs).

We contacted Mr.Kumar, Assistant Engineer of Ward 143 of Chennai Corporation and informed him about the OSR land being utilized by VGN Minerva and non maintenance by Corporation of Chennai for the said OSR land. He refused to comment for our question and requested us to contact him after a day. We had been contacting Mr.Kumar and he avoids answering our phone call looking at our number. When we contacted from a different number, he answered and he coming to know that it was we enquiring about the OSR land, he simply replied that he was in a meeting and would talk later. It creates a disbelief that few officials of the Corporation of Chennai could be hand in glove in this OSR land encroachment by VGN Minerva.

Mrs. Nalini Immanuel is the Councilor of the Ward 143. Mr. Benjamin, Deputy Mayor, Corporation of Chennai resides in S&P Garden which is few meters away from the OSR land of VGN Minerva.

Very soon we would publish news with an evidence where VGN Minerva has encroached “Thangal Karai” Poramboke land.

Hope the authorities of Corporation of Chennai initiates necessary action to acquire the OSR land of VGN Minerva and cater the general public and nearby residents with a beautified park.
