Velammal Matriculation Higher Secondary School established at Mogappair had its inception in the year 1986 with a meager strength of 183 students had grown with 13,484 students today in a span of 28 years. Velammal Matric Hr. Sec. School is being managed by Velammal Educational Trust with the Founder Chairman Shri M.V.Muthuramalingam.
The School management having understood the role of science in the holistic development of a student, Velammal’s State Level Science Talent Search Exam, a magnificent dream project of the Chairman was initiated in the year 2003. The competitive exam in 2003 was carried out with 56,000 students and has grown astoundingly to 1,16,000 students in 2013. It is a curriculum-based exam and an eye-opener to assess the strengths & weaknesses of the students says the school management.
The winners of the Velammal’s 9th State Level Science Talent Search Exam were awarded with cash award totaling Rs.3.95 Lakhs and the same was distributed today at a function organized by the school management at their main school at Mogappair in Chennai.
Students of Velammal Educational Institutions who have won in the Velammal’s 9th State Level Science Talent Search Exam have also been additionally awarded with a special bonanza cash prize of the equal cash award they have won.
Mr. M.V.M.Velmurugan, CEO of Velammal Educational Trust presided the Prize Distribution function. Mr. T.Venkatapathi Reddiar, Padma Shri Awardee in Horticulture and Dr.Rajan Sethuratnam, Director – Cardiac Surgery, The Madras Medical Mission were the guests of honor. The chief guests distributed prizes to the winners of the Velammal’s 9th State Level Science Talent Search Exam.
