Priya Anand debuted through Vamanan in which Jai made a lead role in it. Later she acted in various movies and was not properly recognised by Kollywood film makers. As a breakthrough it was ‘English Vinglish’ in which she played a character along with Sridevi. Her appearance in ‘English Vinglish’ along with Sridevi gave an opening for her exposure.
Though she appeared in ‘Ethir Neechal, Arima Nambi, Irumbu Kuthirai and Vai Raja Vai’, her movie counts only had increased and her market value was not so as expected. Recently she said that she had performed only as a modern girl and was limited to her acting performance and wasn’t not able to showcase more performance. Samantha who use to do only modern girl characters, it was in ‘Thanga Magan’ where she jumped performing a Homely character. This character of Samantha in ‘Thanga Magan’ was well spoken.
Priya Anand in ‘Muthuramalingam’ paired with Goutham Karthik, plays a homely character scaled with Indian culture. She says that this movie would give her a good recognition within the Film Industry and the audience. Priya Anand also adds that she would prefer doing Homely characters rather than modern girl characters.
