A joint press meet was organised by Kamalhassan along with the members of the Exhibitors and Distributors association. The press meet took place in the conference hall of South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce. Kamalhassan announced that the Tamil and Telugu version of the film “Viswaroopam” would be released on 25th of January 2012 worldwide. He also added that the Tamil version alone would be screened more than 500 theaters in Tamilnadu. He also added that a meeting has to take place with the related association of the Bollywood industry and the date of release of the Hindi version would be announced later.
On a question raised about the release date of the film “Viswaroopam” on DTH, he said that a meeting has been planned to finalise whether the film would be released before the theater release or on the same day of the theater release. He also added that before the conclusion of a solution with the DTH operators he would not be able to reveal any details in regard to the release of the film in DTH.
Finally Kamalhassan concluded saying that DTH is an upcoming technology and it would be only a revenue generator and would not ruin the film industry. He also added that he would be strongly supporting the up-come of DTH technology.
Before the start of the press meet, Kamalhassan was presented with a “Finger Ring” by the Exhibitors association and was hounoured with number of Shawls by the Exhibitors and Distributors.
