Indian Cricketer Dr.Sachin Tendulkar was hounoured by the management of Velammal Education Trust situated at Mogappair, Chennai. The event took place on 17th January 2014 at around 10:00 am at their main school premises in T.S.Krishna Nagar, Mugappair. The felicitation ceremony for the Legendary Batsman happened in its usual typical way of Velammal School.
Sachin Tendulkar and his wife Anjali Tendulkar received a ground gala welcome by more than 15000 students of Velammal Group of Schools. Sachin Tendulkar & his wife Dr. Anjali Tendulkar were welcomed by Mr. M.V. Muthuramalingam, Chairman of Velammal Educational Trust.
The Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar felicitated 480 Young Velammalians who achieved in the arena of Sports at International and National and Academics and secured Free Educational Scholarship worth Rs 27.lakhs. He also unveiled the foundation stone of “The Velammal Cricket Academy’.
Later Sachin Tendulkar was honoured as “The God of Cricket Sachin Tendulkar” by the management of Velammal Educational Trust. Sachin was impressed by the reception given by the Velammalians and said “Whether it is a memorable day for you or not, It definitely will be a memorable day in my life time”. Sachin in his address advised the students that there will be tough times in life and they should never give up. He insisted that in tough time’s tough people last.
The family photo of Sachin which was displayed in the school premises reminded him about his childhood days, where his father had taught him to lead a very humble life and be a good human being. During interactive session, Sachin said that all records are made to be broken in future and if his records are broken it better be by an “INDIAN”.
Sachin said that he always loves Chennai for its discipline and the same love and discipline was witnessed at “VELAMMAL”.
He adored Sunil Gavaskar and Vivian Richards as his heroes. He praised Ravi Shastri, Saurav Ganguly and M.S. Dhoni for their Captaincy.
