Years together Vaiko, General Secretary of Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) used to meet the media persons on the 1st of January of every year mostly at his party headquarters in Chennai. This would be the first press meet attended by most of the journalists of Chennai. As the same, this year the press meet took place at Hotel Imperial, Egmore in Chennai.
Vaiko while addressing the media persons said that 20 years had passed after forming the MDMK party and the party had achieved public support. He added that he has identified many youngsters on Facebook and other social websites who were supporting MDMK and its stands. He mentioned that MDMK always stood front to raise voice for closing Sterlite Industry, closing Kodankulam Nuclear Power Plant, stop the initiative to demolish Mullai Periyar Dam and many other issues.
Vaiko alleged that he was very much upset during the arrest of the Journalist Mr. Tamil Prabhakaran by the Srilankan Army. His words expressed that he was scared about the life of Tamil Prabhakaran when he was reportedly taken to the 4th floor in the Srilankan Army Headquarters. He pointed out that the security of journalists at Srilanka was a question mark.
Vaiko also condemned the human genocide by the Srilankan army on the innocent Srilankan Tamils and many Tamil fishermen. He blamed the Congress leadership for the massacre of many Tamil fishermen and innocent Srilankan Tamilians.
Vaiko said that neither Congress nor the Congress supported parties should win in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections to be held in 2014. He added that his political assessment says that BJP would form the Government and Narendra Modi would become the Prime Minister after the completion of forthcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2014.
Vaiko also said that with the interference of Mr.Thamizharuvi Manian, Vaiko had met Muralidara Rao of BJP at Chennai and Muralidara Roa had requested Vaiko to meet Mr.Rajnath Singh, President of BJP at Delhi. Vaiko accepted meeting Rajnath Singh at Delhi along with Muralidara Rao and Pon. Radhakrishnan, BJP State President.
Vaiko also marked out his words that though he had met the BJP President Rajnath Singh and others, the alliance with BJP has not been finalised yet. He said that he did not insist the BJP leadership about seat sharing. Talking about the minorities, Vaiko said that his party would always make sure to protect the minorities.
Concluding the press meet, Vaiko said that his party’s General Body meeting would take place on February 4th 2014. A three member committee has been formed to identify the constituencies where MDMK would be contesting the forthcoming Lok Sabha election in 2014 said Vaiko.
