NIA Chargesheets Four BKI Operatives in Chandigarh Grenade Attack Case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against four operatives of the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist organization in connection with the September 2024 grenade attack in Chandigarh.

The accused include Pakistan-based designated terrorist Harwinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda and US-based Harpreet Singh alias Happy Passia, who were identified as the key conspirators. According to the investigation, the duo provided logistical support, terror funding, and weapons to their local operatives in India to execute the attack.

The grenade attack targeted the residence of a retired Punjab Police officer, whom the assailants mistakenly believed to be the house’s occupant. Authorities have confirmed that the attack was part of a larger conspiracy to instill fear among law enforcement personnel and the general public while furthering BKI’s terror agenda.

The NIA’s probe revealed that Rinda and Happy Passia had recruited and directed two India-based operatives, Rohan Masih and Vishal Masih, to conduct reconnaissance of the target before carrying out the attack.

The chargesheet, filed before the Special NIA Court in Chandigarh under case RC-15/2024/NIA/DLI, charges all four accused under multiple sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Explosive Substances Act, and other relevant laws.

The investigation remains ongoing as the NIA continues efforts to dismantle BKI’s terror network in India and apprehend other individuals involved in the conspiracy.
