Everyone would have been aware about the ongoing recent issue between the Distributors & Producers of Super Star Rajnikanth starring “Lingaa”. Though it’s a fact that the movie did not do well in the box office, it made an average collection for the first 10 days. Singaravadivelan, distributor of this film for Trichy & Tanjavur district met few media persons on the sixth day of the film “Lingaa” and made statements that the movie was a failure and had tried to meet the Tamil Nadu Theaterical release right holders M/s. Vendhar Movies, the producers of the movie Eros International and Rockline Entertainment. He accused that neither Vendhar Movies nor Eros International were able to look into his grievance that the movie was a failure. He also said that he had tried to contact the producer Rockline Venkatesh and was not able to do so.
Stating the above reason, Singaravadivelan along with few other distributors planned to stage a Hunger Fast on 10th January 2015 and successfully performed the same. Around 100 persons which consisted of few distributors and their friends and few exhibitors along with their friends participated in the Hunger Fast. Director Seeman, Actor Mansoor Ali Khan and Tamil Activist Velmurugan are few who had visited the venue of the Hunger Fast to render their support to them. The minor issue started to burn when Seeman, Mansoor Ali Khan and Velmurugan while speaking at the venue mentioned about Actor Vijay that he had repaid compensation for his earlier failure films. This created a suspicion among the fans of Rajnikanth, few in the Kollywood Industry and between the media persons.
The same day after the hunger fast was completed by the dissatisfied distributors of “Lingaa”, ‘Rockline’ Venkatesh along with ‘Vendhar Movies’ Shiva met the media persons to give a detail explanation about “Lingaa” in theaters and the issue going between the Producers and Distributors. Venkatesh accepted that though the movie did not fetch revenue as expected, but earned a decent profit and did not make a loss to him. He accused Singaravadivelan for commenting in public to the media on the 6th day that the movie was a utter failure and he had incurred huge loss in it. He and Shiva while addressing the media added that Singaravadivelan had approached Vendhar Movies in person and through phone calls explaining his loss he had suffered in distributing “Lingaa” movie. Shiva added that he had requested Singaravadivelan to wait for few days since Vendhar Movies Director Madhan was on a pilgrimage and would be returning only on the evening of 10th January 2015. They charged Singaravadivelan of not accepting the words of Shiva and had gone on a Hunger Strike. Shiva complained that Singaravadivelan had abused Super Star Rajnikanth with filthy languages and he should make an open apology for his derogatory speech he had made against Super Star Rajnikanth.
Yesterday(12th January 2015) Singaravadivelan, Mannan, Sathishkumar and few other distributors met the media persons in Chennai and addressed them. While addressing the media, they said that they have to come to speak to them only after the distributors had made a one day hunger strike. They said that Madhan is their very good friend and they waited for some time for an amicable solution to occur and that failed. Questions were raised that what was the necessity to go for a hunger strike when Madhan is a close friend of them. The reply was only on making charges against Shiva. They said that it was Shiva was not able to give a proper reply to them and had been a barricade between the Distributors and Rockline Venkatesh, Super Star Rajnikanth and Vendhar Movies. Singaravadivelan while speaking to the media added that Shiva was not a owner of Vendhar Movies and was an employee for that company. He also added that Shiva was acting like a commission agent as in a Vegetable market.
Singaravadivelan and Mannan said that few distributors were given separate invitation to come to their office for discussing about their loss in distributing the movie “Lingaa” and a compensation to be made to them. They added that Shiva had spoken to many distributors that every affected distributors would be compensated except Singaravadivelan. Apart from that they say that Shiva had requested them not to accompany Singaravadivelan, since he would not be compensated because of his derogatory speech against Rajnikanth.
In regard to the statement of Shiva about Singaravadivelan abusing Rajnikanth, Singaravadivelan said that he had never spoken ill about or used any filthy language against Super Star. He said that Shiva had spoken to him several times and he had spoken bad about others and Singaravadivelan has those call recordings with him. But Singaravadivelan accepted that once he had spoken that what was the necessity to release the movie “Lingaa” only on Super Star’s birthday and not on an auspicious day like Pongal. He accepted for using such a sentence which would have hurt the feelings of Super Star and his fans. He made an unconditional apology for using such a sentence.
Later they said that they expect Rajnikanth’s intervention to either directly speak to the producers or wanted Rajnikanth to depute a person on behalf of him to direct the producers to pay compensation for their loss in distributing “Lingaa”. They concluded with their speech saying that if they do not get an early reply and a compensation, they would be forced to go on a Hunger Strike until death along with their family members in their own premises.
It is really confusing whether they apology Super Star Rajnikanth or are they threatening Super Star Rajnikanth. Our analysis say that it would end up only when Rockline Venkatesh, Eros International, Vendhar Movies Madhan, Shiva and the Distributors sit together and come to a final conclusion. One thing Distributors should understand that Rockline Venkatesh is a well-known and a popular person in the whole of Karnataka and they putting charges against Venkatesh that he has ran away swindling the whole money and his address and identity is unknown is really stupidity.
Lets wait and see whether the distributors are been compensated or are they going for a hunger strike until death.
