“Womanathon”- By Men for Women is to be held on International Women’s Day the 8th March 2015. For the FIRST TIME IN INDIA, a marathon which would be held simultaneously across 3 cities. Womanathon will be held simultaneously across Bengaluru, Chennai & Hyderabad cities.
Running is one of the biggest mass based sport across the world. Using this as a platform for MEN to celebrate the women in their lives, salute their presence and pledge to respect women, is the aim of Womanathon. Be it your mother, sister, friend, wife or daughter. She completes you. The unique concept of this event is “Run with her” or “Run for her”, where men register along with the women of their lives or people can dedicate their run to respecting women.
The people who can do most to improve the situation of so many women and girls are in fact MEN. It is in their hands to stop violence against women. Run cause you RESPECT.
Womanathon is contributing to Seek Foundation which is a not-for-profit organisation working towards bringing consciousness in education and empowerment to each citizen. Seek Foundation has adopted villages like Poondandalam in Kancheepuram District where they educate and empower the citizens alongwith providing basic sanitation, educational and health facilities in the village. They also provide financial assistance to school children and college students who hail from poor families for education and sports.
Womanathon is supported by Neville Billimoria, an acclaimed runner and cyclist who is also part of the Chennai Runners group.
