Sony Xperia Z2 launched pricing at Rs. 49,990/-:

Sony India launched its most anticipated Premium Smartphone, the Xperia Z2 in Chennai, at MRP Rs. 49,990/-. The smartphone combines Sony’s best design, display, sound, camera and camcorder experience, as well as an exclusive entertainment offer. The latest Flagship Smartphone from Sony, which received rave reviews at its global unveiling at the Mobile World Congress in Feb, 2014, it is available from 13th May, 2014 onwards at all key retail outlets across Chennai. The device offers unbeatable value, as it comes bundled with the Sony SmartBand and a premium Sony case, in a limited period offer. Available in White, Black and Purple colour, Xperia Z2 is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Quad Core processor clocked at 2.3 GHz, supported by 3GB RAM and a 3,200 mAh Battery in an 8.2mm slim smartphone. Not only this, Sony Xperia customers can stream and download XSCAPE, an album by the internationally acclaimed music icon and King of Pop – Michael Jackson for free through the Sony Music Jive application.

We will continue to make an aggressive pitch in this category in India, and are targeting Sales of Rs. 5,500 crore in FY14. We plan to launch over 30 new smartphones this year and expand the distribution network to reach 12,000 touch-points, including 500 exclusive Xperia Lounge Stores. We have also allocated Rs. 350 crores as the marketing budget to execute a high-impact integrated marketing campaign that will enhance engagement of brand Xperia with customers in India.”

The Xperia Z2 Android smartphone is designed with the user in mind, drawing on Sony’s expertise in premium craftsmanship. Sony has allocated a budget of Rs. 35 crore for Tamil Nadu alone to promote Xperia throughout the coming fiscal year and increase channel coverage from 580 to 750 outlets. The smartphone market in Tamil Nadu is estimated at a massive 50 lakh units for FY14.
