The IT officials of the Chennai Income Tax circle today (October 08, 2013) raided the office of Film Director & Producer Linguswamy’s Tirupathi Brothers office. It is reported that the raid had started around 12:35 PM at the office of Tirupathi Brothers, Alwarthirunagar, Valasarwalkam.
Nearly 12 persons from the Income Tax department were present in the IT raid. During the raid, it is said that Linguswamy’s brother and one of the directors of Tirupathi Brothers Subash Chandra Bose was present in the office. Others in the office were few Assistant Directors and office staffs. It is reported that few outsiders who were present in the office were made to stay till the evening after a thorough enquiry with them.
We were able to watch two persons said to be lock repairers and duplicate key makers visited the office of Tirupathi Brothers on the invitation by the IT officials to break/open few locks. The lock repairers were present from 6:30 PM to 7:15 PM.
Three IT officials left the office of Tirupathi Brothers by 8:15 PM and one IT official left by 10:15 PM. The major part of the raid was said to be over by 9:00 PM, since the officials were seen chatting with each other on the verandah of the office of Tirupathi Brothers.
During the time of raid, Subash Chandra Bose was seen only once where he was allowed to the cafeteria of their office. He was seen having snacks accompanied by one of the IT officials. Though the raid was said to be over by 9:00 PM and officials seen free, it was doubtfully visible that Subash Chandra Bose was being interrogated by two to three officials inside the office where he was moving in the ground floor and first floor of the office.
Tirupathi Brothers are currently having seven movie projects with them out of which, one is with Kamalhasan, one with Suriya, one with Vikram Prabhu, Distribution rights of Vijay Milton’s Goli Soda and few other films. The approximate cost of these seven projects is said to cross more than 250 crores and rumors speculate that this could be one of the reason for the IT raid.
While asking about the raid to the IT officials who were moving from the raiding spot refused to comment about the raid and moved away from the venue. We were able to see few documents being taken by the officers who had left by 8:15 PM and 10:15 PM.
